The mission of the Crossroads Crisis Centre is to meet the Comox Valley community's need for a consistent, skilled crisis response service by providing crisis prevention, intervention and post-event services.

The Crossroads Crisis Centre is an accredited agency providing a high quality service recognized and valued by those who use it and by the community. Services are provided by proud, skilled, committed staff and volunteers.

The Crisis Centre operates as a not-for-profit Society. This means that our organization has a general membership, and is governed by a Board of Directors whose members are elected from the membership. Volunteers are not required to become members of the Society in order to work on the Crisis Line. Members of the Society can attend the Annual General Meeting and:

  • Review yearly financial statements
  • Receive a copy of the Annual Report
  • Nominate prospective Board members
  • Vote for people nominated to the Board of Directors
  • Vote on any changes to the by-laws of the organization
  •     Crisis Centre staff actually work for the membership of the society, and are governed by the Board of Directors. The current staffing structure is as follows:

    Cathy Stotts - Executive Director

  • The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the agency, human resources, supervision of all programs, program development and evaluation, funding and relations with funders, internal and external training programs, including the provision of ASIST Training, community liaison and development, on-call support and clinical supervision.

  • Kate Macdonald - Crisis Line Trainer

  • The Crisis Line Trainer is responsible for the Volunteer Crisis Line Training Program, including delivery of internal and external training programs including the provision of ASIST Training, along with the coordination and delivery of the Suicide Prevention Program. This includes volunteer recruitment, supervision, and evaluation, along with program development and promotion. The Crisis Line Trainer shares the on-call support with the Executive Director.

  • Danielle Hitchcock - Program Assistant

  • The Program Assistant is responsible for the updating and maintaining of the Community Services Directory, clerical support to all programs, and general office organization.

  • Tammy Morrison - Volunteer Coordinator

  • The Volunteer Coordinator provides the coordination of the 24 hour Crisis Line scheduling, volunteer recognition and appreciation.

  • Jacqueline Moore - Bookkeeper

  • The Bookkeeper is responsible for the daily bookkeeping, payroll and financial administrative tasks.
  •     The volunteers who answer the Crisis Line 24-hours a day and deliver our Suicide Prevention Program make up the heart and soul of the Crossroads Crisis Centre. Volunteers come from all walks of life, with vast life experience, enthusiasm and kindness to offer to the community. All Crisis Line volunteers must successfully complete our training program, and develop the basic set of skills needed to offer excellent service on the Crisis Line.

Over fifty volunteers currently work at the Crisis Centre, and more are always needed. For more information about how to become a volunteer, please see the "Volunteer with Us" section of this site.
